I am the butterfly
I am a butterfly who is learning to fly, I spread my wings to take that jump. To see if everything I have learned and believed in is true. I open my wings and prepare to fall, but I am caught by another butterfly. "Beware. Flying is not as great as you believe it to be. It is work. It is difficult at times especially when the rain comes." I say thank you for the advice and again try to learn to fly and take that leap. Again, I am caught by a butterfly who is warning me of the freedom I will gain. "You may think you are free to fly away, but something will always hold you back. Beware of things that seem to good to be true. They will always turn bad when you least expect it." I think of what the last butterfly has told me, and delay my next attempt. I know I have to believe that I can do it before I do this, but why would I not want to try? I have nothing to lose. I have so much to gain. Again, I try to take that leap. I fall and have a soft landing. Another butterfly is there. "You didn't get hurt did you," the butterfly asks. I reply "no. I wouldn't give this feeling up for anything." The butterfly then tells me a story of his first flight. He broke a leg and almost died. He says to me that it was worth the pain. He is a better flier for it. We race back to the top of the tree, and he disappears. Again, I try to fly and spread my wings. This time, I soar above the trees. I never regret taking that chance because now I see that you have to take the chance to gain the new perspective.
