Let You Down

Life's a lot like hand grenades, does this mean that almost counts?
Because every time I try my hardest, I always end up down and out
I'm a fool with good intentions, stumbling about
So close but yet so far away, I always end up without

I'm gonna let you down
I say
I'll be shut down
And you'll say
I look like a clown
Today
Cuz I'm run down
And I can't get out of this mess
Anyway

One step forwards and two steps back
Can't seem to get myself back on track
Trying to find what it is I lack
But every time I come close I seem to crack

There's something I'm missing, something I don't get
It's a high stakes game and I've placed my bet
Don't mind me, I'm just a minor threat
Everything of importance, I will forget

I'm a loser to every extent of the word
I used to be worth it but my course was altered
I lost my way and now I'm moving backwards
This isn't the way that I had pictured

I've found a way to rid the veneer of its gloss
Even these words are failing, I can't get my point across
Just random words that I like to toss
If no one ever hears this, it'd only be my loss
