Never Alone

It's late at night and you're at home
You're by yourself, all alone
Reluctantly, you reach for the phone
But you're scared off by the dial tone

So you return to the comfort of your bed
But you can't runaway from what's in your head
Those words still haunt you, the ones you could have said
The more time you have to feel like this, the more your heart feels dead

It's a dark cold lonely night
It's a long and tireless fight
Trying to discover, uncover, to make things right
Just remember that every shadow is a sign of light

You look at your alarm clock
It's three and your head hits the pillow like a rock
You sit back up, head for your bedroom door, which you unlock
But you know your wish will stay a wish, no one will ever knock

At least not while you have this lonely time to spend away
Not until the skies fade to blue at the break of day
But for now the charcoal black seems to stay
Echoing those words again, the ones you didn't say

It's a dark cold lonely night
It's a long and tireless fight
Trying to discover, uncover, to make things right
Just remember that every shadow is a sign of light

Once more you return to your peaceful bed
Your eyes are heavy from sleepless nights, they feel like lead
You comfort yourself with whispers of those words you've read
But the echo of those words unsaid still resonates in your head

So you fall asleep and you're troubled by those nightmares that come
You fight them back to the horrid places where they came from
Your dreams have been kidnapped by your nightmares, they want ransom
It's cold alone, you're scared and now your body becomes numb

It's a dark cold lonely night
It's a long and tireless fight
Trying to discover, uncover, to make things right
Just remember that every shadow is a sign of light

You're Love is unmistakable
You're heart is unbreakable
You're mind is unshakable
You're memories ineffaceable
You're words are inerasable

So when it's late, and you're at home
You're by yourself, all alone
And you're too scared to pick up the phone
Just remember that shadow is all that scared little light has shown

You're never alone, there's always someone who cares just enough
Someone who will always be there, even when times are tough
Someone who has the key to release you from your nightmarish handcuffs
Someone willing to stick it out, when the waters are getting rough
