Constant

written by: OurSacredHonor

My heart is torn
It's filled with scorn
My mind is worn
And I am sworn
To a life of secrecy
It's too much for me
All this mystery
Inside this sea
Of emotions
Stormy like an ocean
All this commotion
With no sense of devotion
To a heart so true
Deep in you
You're so blue
How do you do the things you do?
Keep moving on
Although he's gone
And you know it was wrong
But you keep singing the same sad love song
You hang your head in shame
And let the pain
Wear you away today
It's too much for you to take
You can't stay
No way
You have get up and move on
He's long gone
Truth be told
He was never really there, I know it's old
But I'm not going anywhere
I swear to you
That I'll stay true
As the sky is blue
Before a sleepless night
After the fight
Is over and the light
Sobers your thoughts of anger and pain
That drive you insane
Like a freight train
Running through your brain
You can't tame
This life that you lead
But yet you proceed
Nothing can impede
Your progress, won't heed
Not even to greed
Your morals supercede
All that is material
Even though your heart has been serial
Killed relentlessly
So won't you please answer me
This one simple question
Maybe I could learn a lesson
That I should've long ago
Something that I should already know
So won't you please tell me your secret?
Where do you keep it?
The strength I mean
In a place that can't be seen
You hide it deep
And it doesn't help much in your sleep
Can't protect you from your haunting dreams
Though it seems fairly reliable
It keeps an eye on you
But it can't save you from fate
It's too late
For that to occur
You can't ever be who you were
Not anymore
But in your inner core
You still keep a piece
Of that person that ceased
To be when your heart first broke
And the words caught in your throat
Ready to choke
You couldn't breathe and didn't want to
You were blind and didn't know what to do
It's a dark night and it isn't safe alone
So let me walk you home
Let me hold your hand
Let me stop the grains of sands
From falling in the hour glass
Stop the time that's passed
For just one second long enough for you to see
How much you really mean to me
I hope I'm safe, somewhere in your memory
I'll always be here, for all of eternity
