There's something in the cyclical way
That the rain keeps falling endlessly
That reminds me of a dark world of fantasy
When the darkness falls, and the moon has risen,
and the shadows come out to play
Sitting here now watching rain on the pavement
Makes me realize that I've said what I haven't meant
One too many times, reflection's blurry, the light is bent
Molds shadow warriors that the night has sent
To wage a war in the darkness that falls
These shadows soar; they're too mighty to crawl
Deafening silence is their call
Don't try to escape cuz you've got no chance at all
In the darkness, you're overcome
Shadows too much for you, the battle is won
You know they'll crumble with the rising of the sun
But they'll take over, when the day is done
So the phantom wraith, pins you to your bed
You can't escape this torture in your head
Words ambush you, they want to see you dead
Why does this happen? Time and time again
You feel the pressure, build up inside
It's too much for you, no longer can you hide
You try to scream, but your voice is denied
Shadows reign once more, by them you must abide
In the darkness, you're overcome
Shadows too much for you, the battle is won
You know they'll crumble with the rising of the sun
But they'll be back at night, it's their cruel way of having fun
With the coming of a new day
These creatures dissolve, and fade away
Back into your memory, where they will stay
Until the night returns to them so they can come out and play
These creatures tear you apart and leave you scarred and sore
No remorse, they will use force, always looking for
A way to victimize you, they want more
You'll never be rid of them, they're manifested deep within your core
In the darkness, you're overcome
Shadows too much for you, the battle is won
You know they'll crumble with the rising of the sun
But remember darkness follows its cycle and this spiral's only begun
