Tears

As I lay alone
Tears fall in sorrow
In the darkness of my heart
There is no tomorrow

Daylight will never come
The sun will never rise
Shadows watch in silence
As tears fill my eyes

There was no hope to shine through
No beacon of light to be found
I cannot escape my pain
To this darkness I am bound

Drained of all my joy
Happiness and hope
Succumbing to the darkness
Is my last attempt to cope

It covers me like a second skin
Taking all control
Turning me into an empty shell
A shell without a soul
