Tears

written by: OurSacredHonor

A glimmering reflection in the night
Cryptic and diamond-like, a source of light
Flowing smoothly from it's well
Diving downwards towards the depths of hell
Falling slowly, then quickening its pace
Leaving a streak on your face
Once again I am forced to wonder
What it is you hide from me, what's going on under

That tear-covered face, behind those hand-covered eyes
Little hints of what you hide away, revealed each time you cry
I try to read those tear drops like the story in a book
But I get stuck reading the cover cuz you won't let me look

Each tear like a doorway, an opening into your mind
Helplessly you wipe them away hoping that I can't find
What it is your hiding deep, far away from me
Buried on your inside, what you don't want me to see
Like portals into a world that I may never know
A place I dream about at night where you won't let me go
With each modest descent lies an emotion
They were all bottled up, now they flow like the ocean

That scar-covered past, behind those sleepless, bloodshot eyes
Insides implode as you explode, and release a forlorn cry
I try to watch those tear drops like movies of your past
But I get stuck watching the previews and the shadows that they cast

Within each flowing droplet, lies a little world
I attempt to explore each one, hoping truth will be unfurled
It is not so much the truth is lost because you're intentionally lying
But rather the truth is hidden from me, but less so when you're crying
Those miniature worlds hold the keys to your history
Only they can unlock what you have hidden from me
I tread these landscapes aimlessly, caught up in the mud
I wish you'd just break this damn, and for once release the flood

That stain-covered tear, falling from those wishful eyes
What you've held inside for so long, you let go as you cry
Letting go, but gripping tightly, searching for what you're missing
Show me your tears, tell me their story, I promise I'm hear to listen
