Awake in the Darkness

written by: Matt Watson

Waking to the screaming of the alarm,
Longing to sink into sweet slumber,
The only place that lends anymore comfort
With nothing to think about, nothing to worry.

Staring at the glass, watching the stranger
On the other side of my mind.
Too afraid to let it all out.
Too angry to forget about this problem,
That had no beginning.

All we want to do,
Is to just walk away, run away
And sleep it all away.
We'll never learn from our mistakes.
It's just an excuse for not saying goodbye.

Shall we expect nothing in return.
Can we just look away,
As much as the light will
Awaken the darkness.
Silence is sometimes more
Profound than the beating of your heart.

Longing to sink into sweet slumber,
The only place that lends anymore comfort
With nothing to think about, nothing to worry.

We'll never learn from our mistakes.
It's just an excuse for not saying goodbye.
