Time Enough to Understand

A millennium isn't time enough to understand all the things
That life brings
An eternity isn't enough time with the friends
Who are there to the end
Infinity is so much smaller than the number of times
We smile and cry
A second apart is too long
When it's not where we belong
We're on a never-ending journey called a million names
But it's still the same
No matter what you call it life is life
Reality bites
There aren't words to describe the vastness of thoughts in my head
Even more arrive when I go to bed
Restless sleep leaves me puzzled and dazed
I try not to let these ideas fade
Structured chaos and senseless order
Society rides along this border
One slip and we're wrecked on the side we don't belong
Knowing full well that both sides are wrong
The wrong words can't describe this
I just hope you can derive it
From the things I say
Tomorrow, Yesterday, and today
