Under The Skin

Have you ever looked someone
In the shallow of their eyes
And seen a beauty so clear?

Have you ever dropped a glance
At the person walking past
And knew it wasn't a mirror?

Have you ever dug under the skin
And bore through the beauty therein
Of a man or woman you know?

Have you ever swam through
The pain, emotions, disease,
Dying whims of hope as onward you go?
