The Butterfly

written by: MeganMcCormick

Butterfly-baby bound in gauze
Of hopes and dreams and future flaws
Gossamer fibers of your soul
Untempered love you'll soon control

Butterfly glory soon-to-be
Cocooned away inside of me
Convictions build, wrap tightly 'round
To shield and solace this heart unbound

Nestled, safe, you hide away
An inner strength you'll soon display
When strong enough these bonds you'll shed
To venture down the path ahead

Love's solar-glow warms my eyes -
Melting the walls of a thin disguise
Reposed and renewed, I can begin
The journey ahead, embraced from within

You lift me up - arms open wide
This bond we share now strong inside
I stretch my wings, poised towards the sky -
From your love, I emerge...a butterfly
