Let's Go That Way

written by: PhoenixSix

For so long did I walk the beaten path,
Following the very outline of the print set before me
But who thought diverging brought on wrath?
Or is this my dellusional state dancing before me?

So came the courage to walk astray
Fleeing thoughts scattered like the forest floor
Leaf by leaf, piece by piece, accepting facts as authority
Rather than visa versa, which displaces God
Unsheathing an age old, other worldly facade

That we weren't meant to serve another,
We were never meant to sell out our brother,
Not once given right over land or sea,
Nor given the right to decide the fate of me
Not the deciders of hunters and prey,
Or anything in nature that lives today

Another leaf, another piece of the puzzle,
To see what is real in this forest set before me
Beset your many secrets interred upon me
Take the form of a brush and teach me to see
The world around me, as it seems to be
And then again, when the soul is more free
