BIRTH

BIRTH
by Dean Zelikovsky
------------------

Leaving mother's womb, a new atmosphere I now appear,
Gasping for air, not yet in the clear.

Doctor raises his hand and slaps my cheek...
Oxygen enters my lungs and I fell less weak.

As I weep and yell, something will happen only once on this earth:
My parents smile and experience the crying, pain and joy of my birth.

Part of Mother we were for 9 months,
Our first independence: cutting the umbilical cord at once.

My first sight, and to Mother's delight,
Smiles of Mom and Dad and their close friends in the light.

Bloody I was, just for a while,
The only time family sees me soaked with blood, with a great big smile.

5 fingers and toes, breathing OK,
Who do I look like? That's what they say.

A star is born, parents now proud,
Total pleasure and history endowed.

Cry baby cry, this one and only time,
Mother and father...relieved to hear me whine.

Proud as a father, he feels like a king,
Wanting to show all, and happy to sing.

'For this is my creation from the seeds of love,
A miracle of sensation, not brought by a dove.'

The womb of my mother, carrying her kid for so long,
Relieved of the pain she now sings a song.

'My baby, My baby, My precious loved one,
We Made you with love, and now your my son.'

'I will feed you, shelter you and protect you from all,
You can do no wrong, I forgive you on call.'

One and one in love makes the family whole,
A child is born and the family unit is one soul..

The daily little things that bothered us so,
Do not compare to life's new glow.

Transformation realized in a magical way,
Parent's relationship re-energized, and here to stay.

Dynamics between them, now are brand new,
Mom and Dad have become, miracle makers too.

Creation of children like creative expression,
Is best formed inside and brought out with heaven.
