Tempest One

written by: A Kellar

Of five years and less experience,
Playground laughter fills the world.
Building blocks, build castles,
That are destroyed by micro hands.
Havoc is a broken toy.
Solution is a consoling embrace.
Memory is only as long as the newly-mastered
Legs on which one travels.
Happiness and contentment found at play.
Playmate is looked upon as odd,
But is a welcomed addition to happiness.
Joy for two at a carousel pitch.
The laughter, to observers, intoxicates.
Stop the world as a toy crashes.
A blank stare as contemplation occurs.
Unknown and frightening, hatred builds.
Malicious throwing of stones begins...
The eye of what is to become.
Floods of screams, shake the innocent.
Standing in wonder and amazement, it rages on.
