Island Boy

written by: A Kellar

Outcast and outbound
Set your sights on and island dream
Water shimmers beyond the cold green trees.
You must be in the clear.
Long searches to no avail
Find no trace, you left no trail.
An island boy helps you hide
Grins and follows by your side.

You tan and swim and sleep all day.
Not a thought of the city stirs.
But soon the police get a lead to your cause.
You discard fear and worry, but pause.
The search is on the beach.
You're still out of reach.
The island boy helps you hide.
Giggles and follows by your side.
Out of danger you sleep again.

Time slips by too fast.
One more time the boy informs,
Time to move and hide.
"There is a cave" the boy said.
"Better there, than dead."
But you gasped at the men found inside,
The men called "police", the boy had helped hide.
