These things in life that we can't control
Create this emptiness within us like a big black hole
They make us search for ages just to find our soul
And by the time we find it's gone we can't regain the time they stole
It's a fucked up place that we're forced to live in
When people say they're happy religion says it's sin
Spending an eternity searching within
It's a demented, sadistic carnival game that you just can't win
All this shit that racks our brains
All this pressure and all this pain
All these people that are so damn vain
We're all deprived and not alive and all going insane
Like rats in a cage
We can't turn the page
We don't act our age
And as time goes on we will unleash our anger and our rage
This sickness within us consumes our reality
As the government controls us with its confidentiality
And keeps us at bay with all of its formalities
Until finally each of us has lost our own mortality
We've been dying since we're born
But we try not to live in that scorn
We try not to be lonely or forlorn
But we can't pick a direction so we all end up torn
People become enveloped in so much hate
That all they try to do is desecrate
All of those around them who can't relate
Until in the end no one's left and anguish takes hate's place
Lighting strikes as the rain pours down
You're looking for a friend but nobody's around
You're not really homebound
You're searching for something that you've lost that is yet to be found
There's no sound...
Then your heart pounds
You stumble and fall to the ground
You can't breathe easy, you can't relax, you're just too tightly wound
So get back up to fall again
I'll still be here with a pad and a pen
If you ever need me just tell me when
And remember: You're only human
