When We were Young

written by: Deena6a

When we were Young

When we were younger
We wanted to be
Ten times older
Grown up and free

That was at the age of twelve
When our imaginations bloomed
And would never fail

We wanted so much
To be grown up
That we went every mile
Not to be a child

Do the things, some people only dream
All before the age of seventeen

First it was booze
It relaxed the mind
Everything always seemed to be fine

Then we got bored
It was time to change
To a little more dangerous things

So we got high
With the older guys
And went around buzzed
Out of our sculls

We realized later
What was even better
Although we tried it all along
It suddenly seemed more fun

To be real
Seemed to be
The good feel

Along with the opposite's touch
It seemed to quicken up the watch

A simple kiss
Was no longer sweet
We wanted to have
The real treat

Suddenly before our eyes
Conceptions are received
But some die

Boys become boy
And he's no longer a toy
To be with the best
Is no longer the quest

We suddenly see
The girls next to be

But the girls
Are even younger
And trying to be
Ten times older
Grown up and free

How time flies
And how we try
To kiss childhood goodbye

We are children only once
And when that is gone
It will never come back again

Times to quick, to speed up
Stay the child
And not worry about living it up
Or childhood is gone
And that is when real problems begin.

This was written, about how quickly times change and how soon the actions of today turn into the memories of tomorrow. The message is, that time is going to happen, there is no stopping it but enjoy the moment you are in and don't rush it. It will be your past soon enough, and you do not want to long for the days when you were just a child once again.
