Balancing Act

written by: OurSacredHonor

I don't have the balance
To stand on my own two feet
These plates keep falling faster
I can't catch them all
They drop and shatter
Does anything matter at all?
The more that fall
The more that break
The more I live
The less I can take
I can only catch so many
Before I'm bound to slip up again
It's not a matter of if
But rather a matter of when
This balancing act
Trying to keep me intact
But I fall apart
Every time
I catch one more
Three more hit the floor
One step forwards
Two steps back
Balancing act
I can't keep track
Of details
I fail and flail
As my train of thought derails
Amongst the wreckage lie only words
Unheard
Unspoken words of the past
A past that didn't last
But gave the future a chance
Yesterday gave today away
To tomorrow
And sorrow leaks staining a pillow
Weeping willow
Growing ever still
Oh don't you see?
It is me
Silently
Watching with tear filled eyes
In the night like the moon rise
Reliable to an extent
But in this circus tent
Of life I can't quite accept the fact
I have yet to master this balancing act
