Letter of Apologies

I know that this will not change a thing
Nor will it mend your shattered heart
But it's all that I can do
To tell you I'm sorry

This never should have happened
I wish you'd understand
I didn't want to hurt you
But I can't take it back

If I wasn't such a coward
Or could deal with the pain
You would see my face and tears
As I try to explain

Please, won't you forgive me?
Is it there in your heart?
Those few short words I need to hear
To ease this stabbing hurt

I never should have wrote this
Such a painful waste of time
'Cause I know you'll never accept it
When I try to apologize
