A clowns smile

written by: Nobodygirl101

Crawling from my minds recess,
Smiling, posturing, trying to impress.
See the painted clown's big smile,
My heart is breaking all the while.

Confused, bemused and groping ‘round
Is here happiness to be found?
The chilled great claw of terror deep
Disturbs my waking and my sleep.

The crevasse deep from which I claw
My way each day from its gaping maw.
I then I see the window of light
I struggle towards it with all my might.
