Old Love

Today I met a woman
Of which I'm a great fan
Who too quickly I think I would take her hand
But because of age we'd from others be banned

How I wish her heart could be mine
That for my soul also she'd pine
Jump I would if in this her I could find
And our spirits forever love would bind

Time now could you
Make me sing this ageless blue
No matter my simple view
Will you at least let love blossom like a petal anew

Wish and beg for love I try
If only perhaps I could for her love vie
Whether was I stout or sly
Would this forbidden beauty come nigh

I know the future not
What wars are to be fought
But still my love I jot
Even if it is for naught
