Daydream

written by: Tigressarah

I'm sitting here, lonely, in the midst of night,

Doing nothing but watching time fly by.

I'm not alone, but may as well be,

He doesn't even seem to notice me.

Is this what being grown up is?

Is this all that love has to give?

If so, I wish I had never grown up,

Never drank from love's bitter cup.

There has to be more to life and love than this,

Come, distant knight, sweep me away with your kiss!

Show me what love can truely be like,

And be with me in the midst of night.

For what is the use of a man, who while near,

Seems to be so far away from here.

One who doesn't kiss or carress,

But only offers money, at best.

So listen well, and learn from me,

Money's not all it's cracked up to be.

It won't hold you close, it won't still your fears.

It won't keep you warm, it won't dry your tears
