Hearts

written by: Tigressarah

What good is a heart; it's not made to last,

You lose a piece of it with each love past.

You cannot control it,or tell it what to do,

A heart's gonna do what a heart wants to.

You cannot tell a heart how to feel,

and you cannot tell a heart when to heal.

Old Man Time is a heart's only friend,

Only He can tell a heart when to bend.

Old Man Time is a heart's only foe,

For only He can say when to let go.

The heart and the mind seem always at war,

While the mind says no,a heart opens the door.

Forgetting the hard lessons that are taught by history,

With love, a heart's actions are a mystery.

Not heeding the mind's warning of pain in the past,

A heart's always looking for a love that will last.

A heart will lead us on the roughest trail,

While the mind is insisting that we will fail.

Since a heart will always be wild and free,

Ruler of us all, the heart will be.
