Lost on Politics

written by: gilligan3

What happened to my country
What happened to my friend
You all say you want a change
But you ain't ever gonna do better

Sure you'll holler and you might yell
But you won't ever try to touch your dreams
And the real thing you want you'll never get
So you'll throw a fit and scream till your last breath goes way

I wish I could taste but a bit of the blood that for me was shed
Then maybe I could truly understand the cost
By which my freedom to disagree with you openly will never be lost
And how to kneel before any man, that day I may never see

You say that your man is the best there ever is
And when he wins
That he'll put our world right again
After my choice left it in such dissaray

The truth my friend is we have no reason to quarell
For I give that man about five minutes
As the king you think he'll stand as so wonderfully
And soon you'll again be red and a yellin
Bout his way and what he's been doin' so bad

My poor, poor fellow man
If only in your eyes you could see the fear you bring
Then no more you so angry would be
But still you spit and swing

It's a war that'll never reach it's end
When you start again at it, a hundred of your friends die
Littered all around you the casualties abound
Till someone kisses you a lets you tear a hole in their sky

My good, good friend, are the leaders who rule so important
That we must forever be at odds and hate eachother so
I think not, but let's not gather over what they can't do
Let's get to thinking bout what we're all gonna put our minds to
