The Days

Thank you for the chance to make my own mistake
And for all the different chances that I didn't have to take
But I did and I'm grateful for it everyday
Just a kid and it only seems like yesterday

It's so far away now and I meant to say a lot
But I know that I'll never forget all the time that we got
Together you could cry on my shoulder, but we were mostly laughs and smiles
It feels like yesterday but it's been a while
And now the miles separate and years have past
We could talk all night long til we chose to sleep at last
Two good friends that time tries to pull apart
But you'll always have a place in my heart

Those were the days the haze of memory will try to fade away
Those were the days in which you made me smile just like you did today
It wasn't a craze or a phase just luckily our friendship got away
I'm amazed, it's unscathed, after all the trials it's just like yesterday

I can't forget,
I'm not ready yet
to let it all get away
