Dear consumer
I apologize for not writing sooner
We've been busy counting casualties
And upgrading facilities
But we're very pleased to inform you
That you may not be who
You think you are at this moment in time
We think you've slipped a little on the timeline
It's quite possible that you are me
Just fed through a different reality
Like a light through a prism, all the colors split
Relax, take a breath and try to get a grip
Take a sip and as the taste lingers
Feel the air just out of the reach of your fingers
Bring it to me and you can trade it in
In this dream you call life you will fade, begin
You lose, choose and bruise too easily
I am corporation, consumer you appease me
Like the gentle breeze on a summer day
Or that nagging pain with the rain that won't go away
Don't think for yourself now, do you?
I didn't think so seeing as how thinking isn't something I do
So rather than think I'll know and try to show
You need your sitcom like the next packet of blow
Throw away the days you pay for
Waste away like all who passed before
Crumble into dust if you must not trust
For the crust of the earth is as thick as your skull
But it's punctured like the Titanic's hull
Sinking slowing we all drown in our own self pity
Whether it be in a small town or an overpopulated city
Witty or not that's the plot, thick or thin
You can't win what you cannot begin
Such is life, which is death in itself, all alone
No one home, no cell phone, don't condone the monotone
Hello consumer do you still know it's me?
I am the one killing you, I am society
I breathe for you then bleed you out
I shelter you then fill you with doubt
You buy into ideas that you cannot uphold
To you these pixels are gold
It unfolds, you can't hold in your hand
Nor can you all see my deep, dark master plan
So you think and you try
To understand why
I sit here at night
And this letter I write
It's a fight, that's damn right
Whether I'm wrong or I'm right
Out of sight out of mind
This isn't where you will find
My secret design
But you may know in time
If you see for yourself
That life isn't wealth
Or the things you acquire
Or the goals you aspire
Strive higher for limits way out of your reach
Let me teach, or just preach I beseech you bequeath
Wear a wreath around my head
Would you praise me when I'm dead?
I am savior I am corporate I am conglomerate I am liar
I am anarchist I am cynical I am nothing I am fire
I'll spread these tiny thoughts
To all of you who are bought
I am plagiaristic of myself
I am everybody else
I am everything you hate
And everything you anticipate
Consumer you are part of something, something quite complete
A blob of migrating carbon and water from your fingertips to your feet
Organs entwined but your mind cannot find any time to unwind
Lost in time walk that line that you find in my rhyme
Try to define and confine and align it's a sign
That I'm right and you'll prove it tonight
With these splotches on a page they show my age
Or lack there of in my opinion
My dominion and my minions
Of characters unite under my fingerprints
Trying to free the world of colors with tints
See purely and surely a better place we'll be
For now we are robots, I am you and you are me
I own you and disown you all in the same breath
You better pray I'm merciful in my next
But prayer will not help you in this world my friend
You'll carry your speculations of the next until your bitter end
Enter stage left with that same line every time
Just like clockwork, your programmed in body and in mind
You are captured in yourself you are everybody else
I regret to inform you that your life has been pulled from the shelf
Whether it be accidental, suicidal or tumor
In death you still are our very valued consumer
