Thunder and Lightning

written by: OurSacredHonor

Thunderclap
Lightning flash
Watch the raindrops
Diving past
Driving rain
Past the window
Try to open me up
You can't get in though
Try as you may
I keep myself sealed shut
It's gonna take effort
For me to spill my guts
To you though I trust
I just don't open easily
Like a can you can't open
You can shake, drop, and squeeze me
You won't get far with me
Unless you go the extra mile
Normally that's not very far
And it starts with your great smile
Ask me about me
Or tell me about you
I'll sit and I'll listen
Or speak til I'm blue
In the face
Gasp for breath
Any place
Your tongue's death
Is the silence maker
Between you and I
But as time flies by
We can talk through the night
Til dark bleeds with light
And I'll fight for the right
To ignite
A flame,
I'd rather get you going
Even if you're untamed
I'm not afraid
And if I can bring you toward me
Then I will surely benefit
But what will the rewards be?
A conversation late a night?
A friendly tease rather than a fight?
Or maybe just a simple "goodnight, sleep well"
Instead of a dreadful silence that I'll spend all night damning to hell
I think "Maybe this time she'll talk to me"
I know she is blind and she cannot see
But that's OK by me and I can still
Be naively hopeful
Maybe your light will spring into my life
And make it a little less dull
But these childish dreams of mine
Are only that and that's a fact
In time I'll find that to these words
You'd never once react
All I'd need is two simple letters
"h" and "i" open the door
If I could get you to just start with that
We'd be close friends once more
But like that lightning flash seems close
The thunder tells it's far away
Just like you seem so close to me
Your silence screams of yesterday
I'll never forget
And I'm sorry if you want me to
But just like I said then
I am always here for you
