Dead and Buried

written by: OurSacredHonor

My chest cavity is the morgue for my heart
Cause this love's depravity has been my counterpart
For so long now that I can't keep track of the days
The scratch marks on the wall all seem faded and grey
My little cell, my little hole, my fortress of solitude
Try to wrap my fingers around the slippery handle that protrudes
From my chest, soaked in red, "we're just friends" the letter read
In the end, it all depends I guess on how much I've bled
Making a mockery of me, it's treachery oh so cold
Striking rich don't mean shit cuz I can't fill that space with gold
Now you're gone, say so long, and laugh cuz I was wrong
When I said "we are forever" and believed it all along
But you can't spell believed without the "lie" in between
And you can't spell decrypt without the "cry" and it seems
That after all the faith and all the time I invested in you
Your market crashed horrendously
And it's my own great depression you're dragging me through
It's the late 1920's with a 21st century twist
Of my arm that squeezed tightly down at the wrist
Clench my fist trying to hold out a little longer
But the pain wrenching my hand keeps getting stronger
Circulation of my thoughts seems cut off at the front
And off all your pain that you sustained it seems I've taken the brunt
Find the richest Italian marble and carve me a stone
In the shape of a heart for the heartbreak you condoned
I'll dig a hole six feet deep at the spot right where I met you
And I'll toss the stone in, bury it and forget you
The only thing of value our relationship has spawned
Was that stone that's dead and buried and like thoughts of you is gone
No need for a coffin I want you to feel the dirt
And let every single granule be an ounce of my pure hurt
And as your chest collapses with the earth I'm piling on
Remember you have that stone on you too, I hope it weighs a ton
Remember it's shape and it's meaning and me
But most of all remember how you said we'd never be
Anything more than friends after we kissed
Truthfully that stone will be the only thing about you that is missed
