The Trampoline

written by: UsKidsKnow

She took me to the trampoline
The place where we wouldn't be seen
Told me to wish upon a star
I told her they were too far

The trampoline was hard and cold
She wanted my hand to hold
Our bodies were so near
My broken heart began to fear

You told me truthfully
You thought of me daily
Then you told me you liked me
But I told you we could never be

So we made awkward small talk
Like about taking long walks
I saw you wipe a tear on your shirt
I could tell you were hurt

So, tell me, what was I supposed to say
When you came over to play today
You told me you loved me
But we have too much history
