I can't decide whether it's the lack of sleep
Or my own ambition that's killing me
Covertly operating under radar scans
The only thing weighing me down are my own plans
Fallen victim to my own self-assuredness
Cut short once again by my carelessness
Simple slip, watch me fall
I'm too quick to risk it all
That's what they say
That's the game I'll play
And I'd play it any day
I'm on my way
Clear path to nowhere
And I have no cares
In the world
It's unfurled
Before my feet
And I feel the heat
On my back
And there sure as hell isn't slack
In the rope
Around my throat
It holds me up out of the water so I don't drown
Yet it's just tight enough to keep my feet off the ground
Someone tossed me a life preserver
Whether it be Good Samaritan or life guard observer
With the cord around my neck they would hoist me aboard
And say, "He was sinking anyway, he was too self-assured"
I'll float back to shore just like drift wood
No direction, no set course, lost for good
When finally I stumble upon land
I'll fall face first in the sand
Fallen victim to my own self-assuredness
Cut short once again by my carelessness
Running on empty
Chasing dreams not meant to be
Open sea and me
With the sea breeze
In the trees
In the night air I'm on my knees
Begging please
To the heavens for a chance to let me leave
I can't believe I haven't take started this journey yet
The gamble starts now folks, place your bets
Be the high bidder and throw your cash in the pot
Ice-cold water turns steamy hot
Tropical crystal blue water blends into the sky
The glistening of the sunlight on it catches your eye
Then you see me sinking fast with waves crashing down on me
You toss me a line just in the nick of time, different view, same exact story
Someone tossed me a life preserver
Whether it be Good Samaritan or life guard observer
With the cord around my neck they would hoist me aboard
And say, "He was sinking anyway, he was too self-assured"
