Train to Nowhere

written by: OurSacredHonor

I hear a train in the distance
It quickly fades away
Admire pain's persistence
Always finds a way to stay
Parallel to starlit beaches
Blazing along its track
Barreling towards where that breach is
Showing no signs of turning back

It's the 1AM train to nowhere
Writing through the graveyard shift
Always too afraid to go there
Never gonna bridge that rift

It's light pierces the night
As the gap lies still
Like a deer in headlights
About to be killed
Maybe it's just cursed
By the crumbling of pillars
But with roles reversed
It will be the killer

I'm on the 1AM train to nowhere
This tunnels end holds no light
Steel buckles as sparks bleed
From the tracks greeting the perilous night

Each mile closer is another inch down
Fall until sunrise with no sign of ground
Like the well has run dry
And it's bottom disappeared
Water has been replaced by
Our own subconscious fear
