To Christine, With Love

written by: UsKidsKnow

She was crying on the ground
But sympathy in my heart couldn't be found
Because I've become a shielded man
I couldn't give her a kind and loving hand
She broke my heart, I agreed to be friends
But maybe my kindness has come to an end

I'm sorry, I'm sorry
For not being there when I said I would
I'm sorry, I'm sorry
For not being there when I said I would

She went away to be reborn
She returned broken and torn
She went off to start a new life
She returned faded, and in strife
She knew if she left what was at stake
She returned to live with her mistake

I'm sorry, I'm sorry
For not being there when I said I would
I'm sorry, I'm sorry
For not being there when I said I would

And if I could I would, I would
Love you like the man your parents think I should
But there is an emptiness that must be filled
Everything I said was mistakenly spilled
Onto the floor for the world to see
I publically shouted that we'd never be
But I am a fool, an ass of a man
I should fall, blow away in the wind like sand
Because even if there is no romance in my heart
I can still be a friend, make her feel loved, it's a start

I'm sorry, I'm sorry
For not being there when I said I would
I'm sorry, I'm sorry
For not being there when I said I would
