Blood, Blush, and Bait

written by: OurSacredHonor

This is the line
I'm the hook, and you're sinking
You didn't know
All along what I was thinking
Let me fill you in a bit
The one that I was chomping at
The urge to hold you close to me
And squeeze til you give in
You'd look so blue, so sad, so true
Eyes wide open, so I'll see through
The smokescreen, come clean now so I can see past
Everything I thought you were but that would never last

I hate you
Beautiful
To stop myself from
Doing something I'll regret
But that day will come
In the form of tomorrow
You're the shape of my sorrow
Personified teardrops
The curves of your hips
Blood, blush, and bait
All in your lips

Let's play doctor
Test my patience
For diseases
You created
Terminal, I leave the station
Waiting, hating, hating waiting
New York, I swore to you
I would be back
And I'll hold my word
If this train holds its tracks
As tightly as I wanted to
Hold your heart in my hand
But you tore that sleeve away from me
More quickly than I'd planned
I am all that's left now
A mere bullet here with hope
Silver, speeding, caught in crosshairs
At the far end of the scope

Target love, wear your gloves
There'll be no fingerprints to trace
No evidence of remorse
Just an empty look on your face

I hate you
Beautiful
To stop myself from
Doing something I'll regret
But that day will come
In the form of tomorrow
You're the shape of my sorrow
Personified teardrops
The curves of your hips
Blood, blush, and bait
All in your lips
