Lesson in Permeating Silence

written by: OurSacredHonor

Have you ever wished
That you could stop time?
Or even just rewind
And look behind
For a single minute
Under passing exit signs
And high speed limits
Walking centerlines
In between
Headlights and taillights
Caught in what I've left behind
And the blurriness of my sight
Stop signs I missed while going blind
Mangled wreckage
Shattered glass
Rubbernecking
As they pass
Stop for gas
Now the tank is full
Speeding so I'll be back in time
For my own funeral

You've got your black eye liner
And I've got my black eye
I've got a ringing in my ears
Of a pitch too high [to hear]
Bury me alive
I won't even cry
Just never let me
Ask the question, "Why?"

I was dreaming last night
Or maybe it was this morning
Of a kiss so scandalous
That came without warning
Inexplicable reaction
To a primal attraction
Leaving me confused
But with a sense of satisfaction
Lying down she pulled me close
She kissed me hard
And did not let go
My teeth on her lips
As I pulled away slow
A few quick stabs for more
As we lay still on the floor
Entangled, entwined
Frozen in time
I looked at her and asked a question
With only my eyes
She did not hesitate at all
And immediately replied
Or she started to
Before my eyes came unglued
And I was out of luck
I could've know the reason why
Had I not woken up

You've got your black eye liner
And I've got my black eye
I've got a ringing in my ears
Of a pitch too high [to hear]
Bury me alive
I won't even cry
Just never let me
Ask the question, "Why?"
