The Flying Problem

written by: OurSacredHonor

Anticipation
Looking forward
Reminiscing
Looking back
If no one is minding the here and now
Who will keep this flight on track?
I've lost all my momentum
Feels like I'm slowing to a stop
Without this forward motion
The bottom surely drops
Like all tops must stop spinning
And all things thrown fall down
The loftiest hopes
Will someday soon
All crash to the ground
The first plane to ever fly
Hardly left the earth
Should we desire to circle the world
We must all do this first
The shortest flight on record
Is still a marked success
To be in the sky
But for the blink of an eye
We are surely at our best
So when the world stops spinning
And the stars come crashing down
We can watch in shocked silence
Or we can make a sound
The firing of an engine
Or the singing of a bird
The importance of it all is that
Something will be heard
And with the clouds on our wingtips
And the stars attached to our tail
We'll put the sky back together
Because we learned how to fail
