Gaze Upon the Stars

written by: OurSacredHonor

Emotionally damaged, lost and confused,
Disoriented priorities make us seem bound to lose
Restless nights alone in bed
Painful thoughts won't flee your head
The answers have failed you again and again
Though the spoken word may fail me I have more trust in my pen
I write this to you hoping you'll see my words have changed
I hope they won't be the same ones just rearranged
I'm not going to tell you the same things anymore
I'm not going to tell you the same things as before
I'm going to try and help like I know I should
Because I know with roles reversed, for me you would
I'll start with something simple to try to help you win
So if you don't mind, allow me to begin
When the fresh wounds fade, and start to become scars
Just gaze up at the stars
Admire their beauty and serenity
Realize how alike they are to you and me
So distant, yet so close, so distant, yet so bright
They scatter the sky for you and I each and every night
It's calming and humbling to admire these heavenly forms
It gives us time to relax and rewind while we try to weather our storms
I know this may seem pointless and it may seem juvenile
But please just once, take the time to watch them for a while
Commiserate with their loneliness but admire their persistence
Light years away they fight the day, and through the night's resistance
Piercing the black like tiny little beacons of faraway, celestial hope
Although they may not have the answers,
each tiny one is willing and able to try and help you cope
So lay your eyes upon them ever so gently my dear
Concentrate solely on what you see, ignore what you hear
Patience and persistent, strength and desire
Where there's a will there's a way, just look a little higher
Above the trees, above the clouds, beyond our atmosphere
These heavenly lights,
That shine in the night
Will provide room to breathe
And the chance you need
Not to listen, or converse
But to discover yourself in the vastness of this infinite universe

This is just one of the large amounts of poetry by you that I love. You have, for lack of a better a word, such a fluid and smooth vibe to all of your writings. I could only hope to be as talented as you. But if you ever get the chance it'd be awesome if you would check out some of my stuff.

"The answers have failed you again and again

I absolutely love that line. It explains so much about how writers feel about the gift of written word and the importance of it. Well done! Great piece.
