Caught Up In the Act of Catching Up

All of this because you ran your fingers through your hair
And all of this because I couldn't help but stop and stare
And all of this because you noticed me standing there
Sometimes these circumstances just don't seem fair

So now the sun is coming up
And you are fast asleep
With covers wrapped around you
Covering all the places you can't keep
A secret from my fingertips
There was no key to our locked lips
Just a sequence I could not resist
I think something here has gone amiss

I'll see another sunrise
Before I close my eyes

I'm trying to catch up on sleep
And I swear I will eventually
But lately it just seems
That it's everything else catching up to me

All of this because you asked me to come in
And all of this because you wore that devilish grin
And all of this because the prospect was oh so promising
But somehow it still seems I can't win

The sun was going down
And the stars were coming out
Blanketing the sky and you and I
Scattering themselves about
Your home and my bed
Your hair near my head
I remember all that you said
Because it got me here so how could I forget?

I'll see another sunrise
Before I close my eyes

I'm trying to catch up on sleep
And I swear I will eventually
But lately it just seems
That it's everything else catching up to me

Now she's getting up
As I'm going down
And this time I swear
I'll be down for the count
From now on I know better
Than to stick around
Because if this is what I'm in for
You can count me out
