I'm going through this life with no lights on
Nothing here but darkness from dusk til dawn
I'm going through this life with a blindfold on
You can't appreciate a thing until it's gone
Taking things for granted
Has become my way
Taking things for granted
They were they're just yesterday
Taking things for granted
I have lost my way
Taking things for granted
They're gone today

I have this lack of appreciation for other things
Only now I start to realize all the pain it brings
All I do is dream and want more than I can have
I don't realize all the things in front of me for me to grab
If I'm not careful they'll start slippin' away
Here today, gone today, that's what they say

I'm trying hard to recognize the things that people do
I'm also trying hard to see the things that they go through
I try my best relentlessly, it's not enough to make it
I try so hard but endlessly, I can't seem to take it
Maybe if I understand just why they are this way
I'll be able to appreciate my friends, my life today
