Regular

written by: OurSacredHonor

I'm like the corner bar
That's been open for years
You come in once in a while
And have a few beers
Most nights I don't know
That you even exist
When you arrive I'd ask "What's a girl like you
Doing in a place like this?"
You've probably got good reason
And tonight I'm just what you need
But what's to say you'll be back again
Through those wide open doors once you leave?
You say you'll "be back soon"
But "soon" is a relative term
You light my hope like a cigarette
And I'm left here to watch it burn
Strangers we are to each other
Or at least that's what we've become
Opportunity opened our doors
But when all is said and done
We're eyes that meet
And occasionally speak
But I'm still mostly the ears
And you're still mostly the feet
Now I'm left looking for a constant
In this daily equation
I'm looking for a regular
And I'm hoping you'll be the one
