Packed for a trip across the sea
Leaving behind enough to be free
Trading paradise for paradise
Needing some pie, just wanting a slice
Home being completely unfurled
For a chance at changing the world
A prosperous career, not yet
People unknown about to be met
Sitting there with puppy dog eyes
Knowing well therefore playing it wise
But this game is a fierce bother
Having never loved another
Why does it hurt so much to feel?
Caring deeply, feeling the heel
Tied up and twisted, in a rut
Distress, the hearts worsening cut
Vulnerable, keeping on high
On a bereft shoulder to cry
Too much effort, it seems hollow
Here sitting to stare and wallow
Support does not facilitate;
Contact to rehabilitate
A love that started as a dare
The golem inside wants to care
About things so cold and dire
Being is being on fire
When much emotion is germane
Enough passion becomes insane
Is this friendship but a veneer?
Intimacy just is not here
Coming over when needing it
And naivete feeding it
And forward, going on this trek
Insignificance twinge the neck
Hesitant to play this game
Pursuit, retreat, failing in shame
Thankful for having such a friend
Mercy! No longer able to bend
Being neither seer nor sibyl;
Deeming it not impossible
Out of reach is not an option
Attainable at some junction
Intuition says what to do
The point is not to hurt, but woo
Emptiness is filled with the hunt
And every at bat is a bunt
This one hit to the parking lot
Unsure of truth if this is not
Confusion abound within these lives
Trading hundreds for tens and fives
Then spending it all in one place
By vacationing in outer space
Spontaneity is at hand
A future in a foreign land
Worth ten times half of the whole eighth
Yield to none for a leap of faith
The pie is cooling on the sill
A glum void in a soul to fill
Misunderstanding this heart break
As if in perpetual wake
Search, discover, panic and chill
A pen, a pencil or a quill
Haunting thoughts with visions opaque
This is a chance willing to take
