Stranger

written by: OurSacredHonor

I wander through crowds
In a staggering daze
Surrounded by faces
Clouded in a haze
Of thoughts running rampant
Thoughts my mind creates
Stepping lively to avoid
The feelings I've misplaced
Looking for something
More familiar to me
But stranger after stranger
Are all that I see
Every once in a while
My eyes will light up
She looked like you
Until I got close up
Her hair or her body
Her car or her clothes
Similarities mean nothing
I'm chasing a ghost
You walk through my walls
To see me exposed
Then you disappear
When I need you the most
I've been chasing and chasing
To no avail
I'm a dog and you're spineless
So I'm chasing my tail
With no bones to be had
You're a sheet in thin air
You're my dirty laundry
And you don't play fair
The washers are all broken
And my suitcase already packed
But still you find a way
To tie yourself to my back
Now I'm no superhero
A cape just isn't my style
But I'll try to fly and crash if I
Could make you stay for a while
Still, let's not lie, is a streak 'cross the sky
And this pile of burning wreckage
Ever going to be enough
To capture your attention?
Or will you wander off again
The way you always do?
Leaving me to wish one face in this crowd
Of strangers turns out to be you
