My Last Gasping Breath

written by: GrenadeJumper

I reach out for you with one last gasping breath
Time passes us by, not a second left
Let go of whatever you're holding on to
The past will only bring you through
The past can only bring you down
The past can only beat you further into the ground
You try to put all these mixed emotions behind you
Putting anything in the past is the hardest thing to do
To forgive, to forget
To keep a grudge
Or be upset
So with this one last gasping breath
I'll ask you for a little respect
The right to speak all of these words
I'll let them come out
And fly away like a flock of birds
