Lost

we took a ride to montauk
so we could speak our minds
and tell each other
about all these sleepless nights
you've had your bad days
and i've had my share too
but as long as you're with me
i think we'll both be fine

so don't close your eyes
its just another long island sunrise
the sun will shine and waves'll break
but these lonely days i can't take

we took the sunrise
to southern state
and then all the side streets
to your home
i didnt know what i wanted
but i knew i didnt want to be alone

we stayed bundled up in blankets
and wrapped up in the sheets
we stayed quiet and concealed
just like the secrets that we keep
but we told each other everything
about where life and love went wrong
it wasnt easy to admit
but we should have known this all along
