Carnival today.
Sugared waffles, cotton candy and hot dogs.
Raffle tickets, bumper cars and ring toss.
3 for a quarter, ten for a dollar -
what a rip-off!
Nothing to do but just gawk.
Look at the queer people in the stalls.
Watch their empty uninterested stares.
Look at the crowd.
Watch it stuff its face, rocket into space,
moving from place to place,
in the great merry-go round race.
Whoopee, what fun,
the carnival is in town.
Everyone's smiling,
nobody's wearing a frown,
except the man at the spook-house.
He' s got nothing to do but press a pedal on the ground,
up and down, up and down.
No, the clowns can never go home.
They've got targets for faces.
You hit the bulls-eye every time.
3 for a quarter, 10 for a dollar -
what a rip-off!
