Passenger

written by: choloepus

Landscape rushing by
From green to dull brown
The train whistles
Announcing our arrival.

The wagon car swaggers from side to side
Heading full speed to its next destination
Carrying its passengers to the end of their journey
This voyage soon to be forgotten.

But who are these people
Sitting so purposely
Awaiting their next stop
Each engrossed in their own reality?

There's the techno geek
Surfing his profile of his anime character
A drooling beast of strength and purpose
A far cry from his shirt and tie existence
But for no matter, for he his sold on his personae
Rolling down these tracks with this conflicting dogma

There's the bookworm
Alone, concentrating, dismissing all others,
Engrossed in the next chapter of her companion
Living, breathing this fantasy
For what mystery, adventure or romance could I assert
That could possibly vie for her attention?

The middle-aged women, sleeping beside me.
Offers another interesting glimpse into this illusion
Fast into dreamscape she is,
Her thoughts wandering to the imaginary.
She is at peace, lost in the patterns of her mind.
Leaving her physical self behind.

Fantasy is seemingly more interesting
Than the vision offered through these windows.

It seems

Life is moving fast before us,
Yet we are sitting down, not stirring.
Letting our destination arrive
While we try to escape it.

I love how you can transport the reader onto the train! Great Job!

TY!!! Was pretty cool to actually write that on a train too! I guess I was inspired!
