Forever in a Day

Forever in one day,
she hears his words.
They conquer all time and space,
and remembers the touch of his hands upon her face.
She calls out to him arms open,
but his voice waivers on:
"My beloved I am with you; In the moon, the stars, the sun."

A gentle gust of wind kisses his lips,
and brushes his hair,
and for just a moment,
he can feel her presence there.
In his heart he cries for her,
longing for her warm embrace,
"I failed you my love," he whispers from his deepest place.

"No, beloved." Her eyes glistening heavy with tears,
"You have been steadfast and true in these few years",
"I miss you." He lifts his eyes to the clouds in the sky,
"I am here in your heart and so I can never die."

Then she wraps her arms around his broad chest,
and presses her lips to his cheek as if to bless.
And in the still of that moment both understand,
they have faced life united hand in hand,
each store up treasures in their own special way,
of how they were together forever in one day.
