Wings [Part 3]

written by: Iggyhere

Luna slammed her bedroom shut, her eyes red from crying and her cheeks covered with dried tears. New ones began to fall as she sat on the edge her bed and covered her face in her hands. A chill went down her spine as she felt as if someone was stroking her hair, exactly the way Dante did it.
"Shh… It'll be okay." It was his voice, his gentle touch… But Luna was afraid to look up, afraid of what she would find. She spread out her fingers, peeking through the holes. No one, just as she expected. "That's it." She looked around. No one. Then she saw it. The mirror on her dresser… Something was different about it. As she neared it, see realized what it was: a photo of Dante with his some of his cousins was taped to the frame. She took it and something in the mirror caught her eye. She looked up to see Dante, smiling and his arms outstretched.

She ran forward, but her arms found nothing to hold on to. He was gone.

She was crying, Dante was holding her, stroking her hair, whispering to her. "Doctor says it's all in your head, Luna…"

The memory left as soon as it came. She sat once more on her bed and an idea struck her. She grabbed a pair of scissors and the photo. She cut out the part with Dante in it so only he was showing.

"Luna?" This time it wasn't Dante, it was Sarah.

"Yes?"

"Want to have some fun?

Sarah always had something to make Luna feel better. "…Sure." As she listened, Luna absently traced a vein on her underarm with one of the scissors edges, drawing a thin line of blood across her arm.

"Well, I heard at school that Nuala has an affair with Dante… Or, at least, used to."

A look of anger crossed Luna's face as she looked up at her mirror, where Sarah usually presided.

"I say we just mess around with her a bit…"

Luna was pacing back and forth in her room. Her hands were covered in blood. It wasn't hers this time. Sarah gripped Luna's shoulders tightly, "You did good, calm down."

Luna shook her head, "No. I didn't want-"

"There was no time to think. You acted and you arose victorious. Don't you see, Luna? He deserved it."

"I almost killed him, Sarah… Matt didn't deserve that."

Sarah shrugged her shoulders, "You stabbed a shard of glass through his eye, what do you expect? Look, he hit you, and you defended yourself. Besides, I know you liked it…"

Luna looked up, a smile played across her lips. "You got me there, Sarah…"

Sarah smiled, "You should know by now that you can't keep anything from me. This is a great day, especially since we won over Dante. He likes you, you know. His eyes never leave you."

Luna looked at her mirror where Sarah was. Sarah was wearing a sly smile. "You need to relax. Especially after Dante dumped you…"

Suddenly, something in Luna's head snapped. "SHUT UP!" She beat the mirror with the scissors and with her fist. By the time she was done, the mirror was shattered and in multiple places, pieces were missing, some of it was covered in her blood.

As Luna caught her breath, she watched as her blood slipped and flowed through the cracks in the shattered glass forming a butterfly.

"Come on. You need to have some fun."

Luna looked up at the shattered glass, where Sarah smiled at her. There was something in Luna's eyes, something dangerous. "What did you have in mind?"
