Wings [Part 5]

written by: Iggyhere

Luna awoke to the sound of screaming. It took her a while to realize that it was her own and stopped. Hot tears rolled down her cheeks and she curled up into a ball. Whimpering, she shut her eyes and listened beyond the sound of her jack hammering heart for noise in the hall. Soon, heavy footsteps came up the hall towards her room.

Luna's stepfather burst through her door, went up to her and yanked her up onto her feet. She looked at him and she could smell the liquor rolling off of his tongue. "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING, SCREAMING YOU'RE FUCKING HEAD OFF LIKE THAT?!"

More tears came; they always did, whenever she talked to him. "I had a nightmare."

He shook his head, and then slapped her across her cheek. "YOU'RE FOURTEEN YEARS OLD, FOR CHRIST SAKE!" He left, slamming the door behind him.

Luna's hand automatically went to her cheek. It hurt a lot, but she was used to it.

That would have to change.

Luna sat on the edge of her bed. She was looking at her old baby stuff. She was not allowed to, but today she was sad, so she snuck the Winnie the Pooh box into her room and looked through it. Among the stuff were baby pictures, random things, and one of those bands that makes sure you got the right baby.

Luna smiled at photos of her childhood and looked through her baby book. So many memories. Eventually, she looked through it all and decided it was time to return it. While she was putting the things away, something fell out of the side of the cover.

She grabbed and it for a while she thought it was her band, but her band was in the box. So who's was this? She turned it over and read the name. It slipped from her hand as her eyes widened. She was confused. She didn't get it.

The band had his name on it.

Luna heard Sarah's voice in her head, "Hmm. When you were born there was a state law that, to prevent overpopulation, people could only have 1 child. The rest were sent away. She probably gave him to your aunt when he was born. He was probably born in the house, too."

Anger flashed in Luna's eyes. "You already knew."

"I had my theories."

Luna was lost. She threw the box onto the floor and curled up into a ball in her bed as the tears came. She didn't know why it had to be like this. All the pieces fit, but she didn't want them to.

Dante was her brother.
