The Pirate Who Set Out to Steal the Soul of the Sea

written by: jdesiree

Thousands and Thousands of years ago the sea was calm, unspoken.

A pirate looking for this tranquility in his own life set out to steal the soul of the sea.

He packed his most precious belongs.

His wife, she was craved out of wood, it was better that way she always smiled,

His cat who craved from stone,

And a barrel of beer.

He sailed for many days and many nights coming across little sea life other then seagulls feeding on small fish and the occasional wondering seahorse.

On the eve of a night too many to count the pirate stared over the tranquility of the sea

He yearned for this tranquility to settle into his heart.

He was losing hope of discovering the soul of the sea.

At this thought two whales emerged from the water.

The pirate jump up and bowed his hat.

"Hello there, what are your names? I am Pirate and I am looking for the soul of the sea."

They looked up at him puzzled.

"Why pirate I am the soul of the sea" said the first whale.

The second whale beings to ask what is a name but becomes distracted but the foam slipping down a barrel in the boat and instead asks,

"What is that?"

Pirate following the gaze of whale sees an opportunity and offers the whales a mug of beer.

The night grows darker.

The mugs of the whales have been emptied and refilled.

In their drunken state they laughed and laughed at the idea of an identity for before this moment they coexist as the soul of the sea.

I think "I'll call you Ron" said the first whale.

And "I'll call you ed".

Pirate waited as they drifted into a drunken sleep.

He then cut Ron open and found no soul.

As the dawn sky woke Ed, Pirate was far away introducing himself to an octopus.

It took a moment for Ed's eyes to adjust.

When they did,

"RON" Ed cried.

His cry echo through the salt water stirring the sea.

This was the first time a sea creature was slain and not consumed out of hunger.

Waves erupted from the water.

The sea grew angrier and angrier as the blood sank deeper into the waters.

An eel swims up from the bottom of the sea circling the Pirate's boat,

Leaving Pirate no current for escape.

Droplets of water rose up from the surface condensing into a dark cloud over Pirate and his boat.

The cloud electrified with growing anger shots a bolt of lighting shattering the stone cat.

Pirate felt a stab of remorse.

But it was too late a second shock of lighting strikes knocking Pirate unconscious.

While unconscious he was dragged to trail which takes place inside a cave of an iceberg.

Now, the judge was a giant manta ray that sleeps at the bottom of the sea.

"He killed my friend Ron" whaled Ed, as he was slurping his mug of beer.

With the word friend the whole court looked at the whale and back to Pirate.

This was the first time the sea experienced death, for this time death had a name, his name was Ron.

"Your are sentenced to leave this world" ruled the giant manta ray.

"I no longer desire to possess the soul of the sea,
I desire to paint the soul of the sea"
protested the Pirate.

"you exiled to beyond the moon" declares the giant mantra ray.

"But there is nothing beyond the moon" protested Pirate.

He was right for beyond the moon there were only sheets of black.

It didn't matter. The trail was over and he was sent to beyond the moon.

After many days and many nights of despair,

He woke up and created the stars.
