The Cold Sidewalk

written by: jdesiree

He wears a mask of anger
To the he is glamorous
When the lights are turned off
He is a five old boy

Outside the sun is burning the sidewalk
Inside his house it is raining
He tries to find his mommy
He can hear her gentle song that chased away the nightmares
But he can't see her through the sheets of rain
Her words sing a comfortable eternity
The rain pours a gentle sadness

Today he is wearing his mask of glamour
Everyone wants to touch him
He sulks in the pleasure
When he turns off the lights he is five
No one knows him
The rain is heavy

The five year old boy puts on his mask of power
And everyone wants to drink from him
He is wearing his mask of success and runs to tell his mommy
She is in the house, lost in the house lost in the rain
She sings the same tune, forever the same words

He is wearing his mask of love
Everyone steals pieces of him
But they can't touch him
He is in the house
Under the table

The eternity is a long time
No one ever comes to visit
Everyone loves the masks
No one loves the house
It is wet

Everyone will burn their feet dancing out side his door
No one will come in to get him from under the table
He can't move He wants to burn his feet too
He is in-trapped by the song
He can't find the door
No one will help him

He puts on is mask of freedom and For the moment he is free
He puts on is mask of truth
It is a graveyard without any tombstones
He is looking for his friends
They are a sea of wind-up toys
They are all broken
